What are your predictions for this years MacWorld?
A lot of whining on these forums the second they reopen.
Other than that certainty:
MacBook Pro update - maybe new enclosure
Mac Mini update ( minor and silent )
Some major new product ( i.e., ultra mobile laptop )
iPhone SDK ( crippled, of course )
I'm hoping for new mouse
Hopefully not a long iPhone related presentation borefest

New AppleTV with a more powerful CPU/GPU combo to handle 1080i60 @ 15+mbps (alternatively, they'll add a dedicated media decoder chip capable of that level of video decoding), bigger drives (120gb and 200gb), lower price ($249/$299), out of the box support for USB TV tuners.
12" MBP, super thin, no optical drive, optional flash harddrive.
USB BluRay drive for $199. Works with all existing Macs, but specially designed for use with the new sub-portable, optical drive-less laptop and the new AppleTV (which was why they upped the power).
iTunes/AppleTV/iPod will support the Blu Ray Managed Copy system, allowing you to "check out" copies of Blu Ray movies you own onto your iPod and/or AppleTV. Resolution will be limited to 640x480@1.5mbps h264 (max iPod quality). (This will work because if Apple is going to have timed movie rentals, they're going to have to have a system to time out DRM's protected file in iTunes/on iPods, which is essentially how managed copies work).
Also, some DVDs with pre-encoded, DRM'd iPod versions of the movie on them.
1.1.3 firmware for iPod touch and iPhone released - will have the required framework to run apps written with the new SDK. SDK details discussed, sample software demoed.
iTMS movie rentals. It'll suck, in terms of pricing, availability, and selection. No fault of Apple's, but the studios will tank it by being greedy. I'm guessing at least $3.99 for 24 hours, but you'll get a discount of $1.99 if you buy the movie through iTMS within 14 days of renting it (and still have it stored locally on your computer or iPod, so no redownloading required).
Displays revamped. Prices changed, integrated iSights. The 20" will get really cheap, but the panel will get replaced by the "crappy" 20" iMac LCD. The 23 and 30" will stay expensive and aimed at "creative professionals".
And some standard bumps to the other lines of computers, here and there. Bigger HDDs, more RAM, faster CPUs, price chamges, etc.

Unfortunately this is EXACTLY why Apple ISN'T producing a headless mid-range Mac. They will lose out tremendously on display sales. They either want to sell you a display within the unit (iMac, MacBooks) or sell you a display with the unit (Mini, Pro). Mini users will buy one because A. they're in the store and B. don't know any better. Pro users will buy one because they are top-of-the line, beautiful screens and they, generally, have money to burn. Mid-range users (and prosumers) know well enough that they can get a cheap, good-enough monitor for $200 from NewEgg or eBay (for the daring). Instead, we prosumers either have to settle for the iMac or splurge on the Mac Pro.

Maybe you're really bad, or playing on a bad TV (too small or low res?). I played on hardened, and the most I had to replay a section was WMD, a part near the end of the game where you have a crossbow. You get an achievement for taking out all guards silently, so I had to restart to keep trying.

What's hilarious is that you guys are arguing about beta software and a product that, up until this point, has been a huge disaster. Asking someone to rotate a raw image 180 degrees with a straightening tool is absurd. It isn't meant to do that. End of story.
I am not sure how many of you are professional photographers, but I can tell you that most of us have tried both products and are still using what works best: Iview media pro and C1 Pro (as well as photo mechanic for iptc info in batches). All 3 products have been around forever, and work flawlessly. What's comical, is that running all 3 of those apps concurently, is faster than running only aperture on my powerbook G4, as well as on my Mac Pro.
Aperture is a pig even on a shiny new mac pro compared to C1 and Iview. Lightroom just doesn't feel complete, and to be frank, the way the program is laid out is annoying as hell when you need to get things done quickly (like when filing from a football game, on deadline while sorting through 1000+ shots). It takes all day just to even get them imported into aperture, while I view does it in about 2 minutes. In 2 minutes, I can be choosing selects and sepertating the wheat from the chaff. This is not the case with either aperture or lightroom.

Bear in mind, there is nothing inherently bad in a company having a monopoly, not even Microsoft. What's bad (and illegal) is when a company in such a position abuses its monopolistic power. - iPod bug fixes
Hopefully fixes the bug when album artwork doesn't show on the lock screen. It's not a critical bug, just kinda annoying.
At least apple admitted for the first time ever that they have a bug, i guess they mean BUG as in eavesdropping!

Unlocked by Lion it doubles as an Ipad.
Shrink it in the microwave & it's an iPhone!

I bet you're one those people who finds a wallet with $50, credit cards, driver's license and a condom and tries to use all the contents then throws the wallet away. Do you kick dogs too?
Your other option is to go back to Best Buy and explain what happened, saying you didn't realize the error until settling your bank accounts while doing bills. That's if you actually have any bank accounts.. or have a conscious at all.

As long as Sony will use MPEG2 for their blu-ray release, they will fail. The first BD50 release was done last week (Click) and the PQ is still subpar compare to HD-DVD. THere is no excuse for such a poor release.

the temps haven't been that high (70C or under). i have changed the voltages, but maybe not enough. that's one of those things you have to play with.
but it looks like 2 of my rigs are down now. i might be driving back to fix them tomorrow night i guess. i'll put both of them back to 3.5 ghz and hopefully they'll stay stable.
my asus has been rock solid compared to the other 2 though. staying at 3.5-3.6 ghz
oh thats not very hot! might be the PSU struggling maybe?

That was exactly my point. I don't see why people care so much about what phone someone else has. It's only the Android folks that engage in this, I have yet to see an iPhone owner behave so pathetically.

Never had Angry Birds run at '2FPS' and I have the 'original Google phone'- a HTC G1. Runs nice and smooth on 2.2 (general usage and games). My iPhone 3G OTOH...
Doing the same things (heavy web browsing, 1~2 hours of talk time, 1 hour of A2DP BT music streaming in my car) I get just under 1 days' battery life on both my NS and iPhone 4.
As for the screen- less pixel dense on my NS obviously but in direct sunlight the NS's SAMOLED is way better than my iPhone.
Love the 3D on my SH-03C. Mobile ASV on it is as good, if not better than, the iPhone's IPS technology.
I gotta admit that my 4's screen is crisper. Shame they can't produce them all the same (my 32GB is pee-yellow while my 16GB is very white).
You're either a balanced 'reviewer' or an Apple apologist (plenty of them here!). I'm leaning towards the latter. ;)

I see where you going wlh99, and don't worry.. my full intention is to learn, not to get code from all of you. Many people in this thread underestimate my knowledge of objective C (and I understand why, I got lost with the pointers). I have 2 1/2 months since I started development and had 0 idea of the language or programming (I was a Pastry Chef actually :D, which is the name of my first app).
Believe me when I tell you that I know what's going on with my code. I'm aware that If you release an object that it doesn't exist you'll get an exception every time.
Making it work is a lot less important than knowing how to do it, for future work.
Back to the Code, let me go give it try.. b-back

Ok, it doesn't crash now but timer still won't restart. I'm going to create another timer object (not pointer, I'll use the same pointer). I get this idea that I can't reuse or reset the same timer over again (invalidating and releasing it only pauses the timer). Wish me luck :)

Read the contract you signed... you aren't paying for "a chunk of data".
You are paying for access to data via an approved device and method.
That access has limitations and restrictions.
Don't like the restrictions, choose another provider.
Your gas analogy is not relevant. The gas you buy has no such restrictions, so you are free to use it in whatever vehicle you choose.
You are correct that the way it is setup we pay for access and it has limitations and restrictions. I think the point is this just feels wrong. We have to accept it in the USA because we don't have a lot of choice/options. But in general if I am paying for data then why can't I just use it on what ever device I want? It doesn't make sense from a consumer stand point aside from the fact if you want data (which you are forced to pay for if you get a smart phone) then you have to agree to the wireless company terms.
