Ever since Cleopatra first coined the idea that she could use her hairstyle to enhance her power and fame, women all over the world have mimicked the hairstyles and hair care rituals of the rich and famous in order to try and harness a little of that glory for themselves.

Here is an outline of how to use some of the best quality salon hair care products on the market to replicate and maintain the most popular celebrity hairstyles of recent times: 'The Farrah', 'The Rachel' and 'The Pob'.

The Farrah

Katie has naturally smooth, straight hair that is of a medium thickness. This hair type is ideal for this mid length hairstyle, but not absolutely necessary to get the end result.
If you have hair like Katie’s, ask your hairdresser to cut a mid length bob with layering throughout and lots of texture.

To style it, blow dry until 75% dry and then use a round brush to dry the rest into this style. Use a small amount of wax to get the texture and piecey-ness seen on Katie’s hairstyle.

If your hair is thick and wavy like mine, you’ll want to ask your hair dresser for basically the same thing but have them add additional texture to get this hairstyle to lay just right. I would suggest blow drying with a paddle brush and flat ironing hair, flipping out the ends. Use a bit of pomade on the ends to add texture and shine.

If you have thin and/or fine hair, you’ll want to ask for layering but have your hair dresser go easy on the texturizing as it can thin out your hair too much. Use a root amplifier like Sexy Hair, Big Sexy Hair Root Pump or other volumizing products, instead of texturizing hair products, which may weigh down your hair, to create Katie’s mid length hairstyle.

• Step 4: Remove your hair from the rollers after they have cooled (about 20 minutes or so).

Then take out the rest of your hair from the rollers and style around the pinned hair. If you already have a short hairstyle, simply remove your hair from the rollers and finger style into place. It’s hard to keep up with all the celebrity awards shows and to be honest, there are more of them than I care to comment on. The thing is, the shows are a place to go for those of you looking to see the newest celebrity hairstyle trends. 

So here is a head’s up on just some of the celebrity hairstyles you will be able to catch on tonight’s show;  Selena Gomez, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Alba, Salma Hayek, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez and for you guys, Charlie Sheen, David Archuleta and Benjamin Bratt! Significance And History Of Dreadlocks

As a hairstyle, the history of dreadlocks is long and significant. Most commonly associated with the Rastafarian culture in modern times, dreadlocks have been worn dating all the way back to ancient Egypt.

Oddly enough, the historical significance of dreadlocks is basically a religious one that spans many different cultures. The name, dreadlocks, has two possible etymologies. In one possibility, the word is inspired by the dread this hairstyle inspires in those who see warriors wearing such locks. The other option is related to the Rastafarian word for "fears the Lord."

According to Hindu scriptures, the god, Shiva, and his followers wore a hairstyle called "jaTaa" which means twisted locks of hair. Early Greeks, several Pacific Ocean civilizations, and some monastic groups of various religions have worn hairstyles that formed locks and could be termed dreadlocks.

Some of these groups include monks of the Ethiopian Coptic Church, Judaist Nazarites, Hindu Sadhus, etc. Even early Christians have worn dreadlocks. The first Bishop of Jerusalem, James the Just has been described as wearing them long enough to reach his ankles.

The use of the term dreadlocks to describe this hairstyle is easily traceable back to Jamaica in the 1950s. At that time, the style was adopted by members of the "Young Black Faith", an early beginning of the Rastafarian movement. Their adoption of the hairstyle was chosen based on Biblical faith and can be traced back to a passage from the book of Numbers.

Dreadlocks may seem to be fairly recent development in terms of hairstyles. The fact is that that could not be further from the truth. Dreadlocks have been worn, though called by different names, since ancient times. Religious ascetics are the most common class of people to wear them as a part of their religious practices. Today, dreads are worn for a variety of reasons. Some are religious. Others are to make a political statement, and still others are simply because the wearer believes that this style looks good on him/her.
