Going to replace the stock HDD with a WD Black 750GB. New to Mac and need to know what's the best way to test for bad sectors and stuff.

I would prefer it to be a thorough type of test before I start using it for important data.

Eh, people are reading the data completely wrong. The iPhone 4 dropped on Verizon in mid to late February and had 2.2mil activations by the end of the quarter (roughly 6-7 weeks later), at & t had it for roughly six weeks (almost double the time of Verizon) and only managed 3.6 mil activations. Verizon is activating MORE iPhones than AT&T at a faster rate, including the 3GS deal.

Im trying to figure out why media sites keep getting this so hopelessly wrong. This device sold 2 million+ units being a ten month old product in SIX WEEKS. Do you realize that that is nearly 15% of the lifetime sales of the most successful line of android phones (the galaxy s) in six weeks? If that's bad then **** according to this logic android is really ****ed.

I think you've got it wrong. Verizon's miss per this and the other reports I've seen is versus Apple & Verizon's expectations and plans. Nothing in this story mentions head to head sales, etc.

This isn't about Verizon iPhone versus AT&T iPhone. Its 100% about Apple's expectations. Maybe Apple blew their expectations, but its doubtful they didn't build in a future iPhone 5 launch keeping people on the sidelines, Android releases, etc.

My cable bill makes me want to puke.. I'd hold my entertainment spending up against any on this forum..

I'm refusing to buy the latest CRAP-laden disks, possible-broadcast flag-filled broadcasts, and downloads they're trying to shove down our throats in the future... I'm saying if they want to keep my future business at anywhere near my current rates, they better make the future DRM/Crap/etc more like what we have now, or they will loose sales..

How can that NOT be on their RADAR?

What cable services do you have?

If you have digital cable, you're buying into their DRM.
If you have a cable-company supplied DVR, you're buying into their DRM.

You just haven't seen it really get kicked over yet.

Folks,

Even though I believe .mac to be overpriced for the value, after buying a couple of iMacs for my extended family, I decided that it made sense to by a Family Pack license of .mac because the members of my extended family aren't that computer savvy, so making photocasting and sharing files as easy as possible was a priority.

All the retailers I called had no stock on .mac retail boxes and told me they were on backorder. After placing an order a few days ago via the Apple Store online, the original ship date was estimated 1-3 weeks, but my order now shows an estimated ship date of October 24th.

I can only hope that this means that the .mac service and retail boxes are going to get released in late October with new functionality. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I can't figure why something as simple as a .mac retail box with an activation code is backordered more than a month since placing my order unless something was afoot.

I'll secretly wish for Merom MBPs at the same time of course. :D

As my previous noted, call ATT to make the change until they fix the website process...go to your online account and you'll see the + delineation beside A-List Nation 700 as my attachment shows as of today.

Called there is no such thing as 700 nation a list. What plan are you referring too, individual or family plan? We have family plan.

I'm pulling this one a bit out of nowhere, but I've once heard that the whole thing with diesel not being popular in the US is a bit of a convenient balance, since you can split petroleum into gas and get diesel as a byproduct, so it's nice to have a balance.

Just upload it as an attachment. Click Reply, go to Additional Options and then Attach Files, and then click Manage Attachments. A small window will pop up. Click Browse, and find your pic. Upload it, Submit Reply and you're done.

Got mine through this morning from the AppleStore. Its absolutely wicked! Very, very diddy and comes with this cool little docking station to charge it and interface with my Mac. Looking forward to a trip to the gym tonight... ;)

Got mine this morning as well, and also extremely looking forward to using this in the gym instead of my video iPod. :)

I'm the one who found it. It's the following file:
System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AOSNotification.framework/Resources/English.lprog/Localizable.strings

Cool.

How does one basically decode these string files?
These seem to binary although they have readable text. How can we actually read all the content in those binary files?
