Agreed. More often than not, Apple has tried to side with the user's interests. It's good business practice for them since an angry customer is not a good customer. And since their business model depends on people spending hard-earned cash for products, they need to make their users happy.
Wall Street and the marketplace seem to think they are doing an overall good job.

And tell me...how do you figure out this 2.1 magic number? What's wrong with 1.9? Does the human race have to be like bateria and proliferate all over the place consuming the earth until the land is barren? That's what you want? You want Europe to be like China and run out of food such that they have to give "child licenses" so that ppl won't starve to death? Oh...I know...how about Afghanistan which is what? Like 7? Not true.. I am the Art Director for a Art department that makes grocery store ads.
Soda is not a common loss leader since it's DSD Pepsi/Coke keep close price controls.
I usually see produce and meat used as loss leaders..
All food margins are bad for grocery stores...they end up making the most money off of their non-food items...which is why you often see a growing number of non-food aisles.
Another point... I expect that TJ MAXX just bought up a bunch of the Refurbished iPads and is taking a $50 loss on each to get people in the stores.

Well they did pay money for it. They are probably losing between $70-$100 on each iPad.

I seriously doubt the figure of "80 iPads total" aquired by TJ Maxx that is speculated in the article, but who knows.
I think he meant 8,000. I did the math myself. All you do is count the number of stores east of colorado or so. I estimate 50%-60% of stores got 10 iPads each...throw in some Marshalls stores...and you get between 5,000 - 10,000 iPads.
(notice how some Marshalls stores are holding off on their iPads until Black Friday...maybe they are apple users who actually figure out they have a prized possession...i can see most managers just saying..what are these ipads..lets just give them away).

I have a couple of thoughts here:
1) Apple developers are forgetting about their own UI guidelines. Rather than using a button like "Upgrade" or "Open MobileMe Preferences", they use the generic OK label that could mean anything.
2) They are being lazy during development, and the wording will be changed before the official release.

Apple should really diversify their suppliers anyway, which is what they look like they are doing. Cut Samsung supply by 50%, and threaten all of it if they don't get their act together. Surely Samsung doesn't think that that they can bring in this kind of revenue on their own merit. Outside of LCD televisions, Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.

Hey guys, n00b question here: I recently bought iFlat4 HD for my fourth gen iPod Touch. It's an amazing theme and I love it, but I just saw iFlat 2 HD on Themeit. Just wanted to know witch ones newer and better and what the differences are. Another thing is when I applied iFlat4 the Camera, Maps and Photos icons stayed stock, any way to fix this?

Well some can't last the test of time (I've had some that stopped working myself) but, as long as from now on you get good quality media you'll be fine. :D

ok, i got a new m100 bt earpiece (i swear, i ONLY use it when i'm at my desk; never on the street LOL).
it automatically put a battery icon on my status bar. am impressed...is it coming from the earpiece itself? it's only there (of course) when the m100 is connected.
any way to hide/disable/kill it? i don't understand how it gets there (so can't figure out how to remove it).

I got an ihome ip40 for christmas and it has been working fine with my iphone 4 until recently. It still charges the phone, but when I try to use the ipod function on the dock and play music, it says "accessory is not compatible with iphone". Any suggestions on what the issue on this may be? Thanks

I've been thinking about that: remember when there were rumors of OS X delays because the Mac team was pulled onto the iOS team in order to get 3.0 out? I'm wondering if the opposite is happening now - the iOS team has been pulled onto the Lion team in order to get Lion ready for a summer launch.
This begs another question.
I know Apple likes to have very agile teams that can be pulled into whichever project needs the most attention at the time, but if OS X is taking a hit because of iOS, iOS is taking a hit because of OS X, iWork hasn�t been refreshed, let alone iWork for iOS, etc, etc, it sounds like Apple just needs more engineers.
This begs another question.
I know Apple likes to have very agile teams that can be pulled into whichever project needs the most attention at the time, but if OS X is taking a hit because of iOS, iOS is taking a hit because of OS X, iWork hasn�t been refreshed, let alone iWork for iOS, etc, etc, it sounds like Apple just needs more engineers.

Android OS devices were as a group moving full steam ahead due to VZW not having the iPhone. But, we're already seeing the Android surge slow some as VZW customers that were buying Android devices simply to have the closest thing to an iPhone no longer need to make such a compromise AND Android based tablets are falling well short of expectations...even various Android-favoring blogs are admitting such. I don't think that means Android is in trouble, I just think that Android is not going to crush iOS like some thought 3-9 months ago. What will be interesting are results from VZW for a full quarter with the iPhone and the next two years as existing customers with Android devices are due for upgrades...what will they choose.
Apple clearly has the momentum still and to their benefit they are slowly and strategically working all screens...handheld, tablet, computer, portable gaming, console gaming and living room. iOS apps coming to Macs in just a few months. I think it is widely expected that we will soon be seeing an Apple TV refresh or a "full" Apple engineered TV with iOS app capabilities.
As newbies to Apple, and especially iOS, really hone in on being able to buy an app once and run on all these, or at least more than one, screen, the attractiveness of Android will diminish. Google certainly has the resources to likewise compete...but will they? I think Amazon can too, if they want to. Facebook shouldn't even try...no FB phone, please! Time will tell.

There's 2 jailbreak apps for this. One creates a daemon that constantly deletes the location files. Another onewipes out the location history and then does a wipeout of each location currently.
A lot of people are saying this is no big deal. According to the hacker that found this out, a hacker can hack onto the computer that the backup is located on and find out all of your locations.
All the people saying, "I don't sell drugs so I have nothing to worry about" or "I have nothing to hide" are probably the same people who voted for homeland security.......and we can all see how good that was...NOT.

I like Castle for the new service. The whole Castle in the Cloud theme. It works.
This instantly made me think of Laputa: Castle in the sky as well as the Laputa in gulliver's travels.
I think apple should go for this over iCloud. It's a brilliant idea to brand a cloud related service as a castle. It just fits. They can even claim that it's "magic as a castle in the sky"
