I recently updated my address thro AR 11 online and also submitted the SRC numbers for the 485 pending for myself and wife. I received a mail (post) stating that USCIS has received my change of address notification and they have udated the new address to my 485 application. I received two seperate letters for me and spouse. But there is no change online on LUD's to those case which are 11/4 when my fingerprinting status was updated. Does this mean USCIS has goofed the address change? I have safely filed the USCIS receipt's with me in case they create issue in future. :o

I dont know what you guys think about the competing bills - Frist and Specter, but I get the feeling that the Frist bill which does not include any of the Illegal immigration amnesty provisions but does contain almost everything you would want for EB immigration better serves our purpose.
The Specter Bill with the Guest Worker Program even if it passes the Senate will not pass the hardline conservative Congress - which could mean that all our EB provisions also get scuttled. Hence, I think it is in our best interest if the Comprehensive Immigration Bill (Specter) does not see the light of the day on the 27th. I would desist from urging the Judiciary committe from trying to make the deadline.

Hello,
Last November I quit my job in the US and left the country as well. Two days ago, I received an email saying my 485 is approved, and card production was ordered. The card will go to an address in the US where someone can forward me the mail.
What should I do? Try to enter the U.S. with the card? What to say to POE officials? WIll I be questioned?

I know one case who is very similar to your scenario. during POE they had to hear 5 mins of lecture from officer (rules of GC, like you need to stay here in US or other wise you would loose your GC blah blah blah) other than that they didn't face any issues entering with New GC. do your home work and good luck.

I hate the fact, we let ourselves be discussed amongst the ILLEGAL immigration pool. We are not here illegally, there is no reason we should call this "GC for sale". We are helping the govt. by not just words but with our $$$.
We are here legally , paying taxes, paying rents etc. This fee is meant to speed up processing. No other terminology should be used at IV. Let anti-immigrants talk what they want.
Please remember, at any point there are always opposing forces at work. For those anti-immigrants I have no time or energy to ponder on there xenophobic reservations.
Lets not forget, America was and continues to prosper because of hardworking and honest immigrants..

While we are discussing this, I have another question. What if someone moves to a different company with similar role. I get it that the new employer will have to file for PERM and I-140, but is there something that can be done so that priority date is ported, assuming the previous I-140 has been approved when the shift happened and there is still more than 1 year left on H1B (either because < 6 years or because of 3 yr extensions after I-140 has been applied).

This is my Attorney’s take on “same or similar job”:
Ultimately for the adjustment of status to be approved, you have to have a new position in the "same or similar occupational classification" as the position which is the subject of the labor certification application. This does not mean it has to be the same job or the same job duties but, as indicated, in the same general field. As long as you obtain such a position prior to your adjustment of status being finalized, then there should be no problem.
I also asked him about Location and Salary requirements. This what he said…
Location does not matter and even salary does not matter, as long as it does not seem to evidence a totally different type of position.
So, I wouldn’t worry about the "same or similar" crap and wait for several years. If some attracting offer comes up your way, go for it.

I am in similar situation in regards to my wifes H1B and EAD situation. Following is my understanding but could be wrong. there are gurus in this forum who have been digging rules for years and would certainly point out any indiscrepancies in my reply. Make sure you keep reading the thread for a couple of days.
I am currently living in the US on H4. I will be getting my H1 approval in a couple of weeks.
